Today there is no firmware to load from the linksys site. Does anyone knows more, perhaps a new version?

Brian,

I got this model WVC54GCA from a friend who said that it was working fine , when I first got it I reset it without even plugging it into anything. now I cannot connect to it. I'm running an xp machine , my router is an old speed stream from Siemens that has phone line coming to it (dsl). the camera is connected to one of the lan ports on the back of the router , I have checked the dhcp clients linked to the router but none are for the camera , I tried connecting it directly to my xp machine but I'm getting limited connectivity.

tried using the Linksys setup utility but it keep saying cannot find camera ( tested while connecting to router and pc).

the camera has the blue light solid.

please help and reply to my email directly. I’m novice in networks.

many thanks.

It looks like they addressed the issues you reported:

http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/wireless/lbc/WVC54GCA

Under downloads they have firmware version: Ver.1.1.01 now available.

Thank You so much Brian. I had to reset my camera, and spent hours on the phone with Linksys Tech support. They had me update the firmware to the newest one, and at first the camera would not connect. They finally got it connecting, but then the motion email and ftp would NOT work at all, even though all the settings are correct. I went back to the old firmware, and voila! I'm glad I didn't give up, Linksys said the camera must have been bad?...Thanks again!

Add me to your list of grateful fans. When I updated my firmware, the camera no longer sent out the email of the jpg even though the settings were correct. It actually was even weirder than that: When I typed the password and pushed "send test email" it worked. But after I pushed "apply" I would get an email error. After I verified everything for an hour, I decided to search for the old firmware. Thank you having that available.

@Manel

It's possible but perhaps unlikely that the WVC54GCA runs a TFTP server similar to other Linksys products. That'd make a lot of sense and definitely be more suitable for recovery if you're unable to see anything in the menus. I'll poke around for one if I get time.

I think there's more at play to the in-browser firmware update than just a HTTP get request too; probably complicated.

After a firmware upgarde i Lost the webcam menus texts. That means that I'm receiveing, for example, normally the detected movement emails and I can acces the images using the address http://MYSITE:1050/img/main.cgi?next_file=main.htm .
I'n lookins for the entire http line that the browser sends to the webcam when you are upgrading it with a frimware file. I'll try if I can reload the firmware using this strategy.

Thanks
